Company is now approved by Standard & Poor’s

February 7, 2018 – Urbandale, IA– The Barrent Group, a top provider of mortgage loan due diligence, quality control and consulting services, has been added to Standard & Poor’s Global Ratings (S&P) list of third-party due diligence providers for U.S. residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS).

“We are very pleased to be added to Standard & Poor’s list of third-party RMBS due diligence providers,” said Richard Barrent, president of The Barrent Group. “The reviews by S&P-approved due diligence firms give investors confidence that the underlying collateral in the securities has undergone a comprehensive analysis.”

S&P considers a number of criteria when evaluating a due diligence firm’s capability to review mortgage loan quality, including:  mortgage loan data quality, compliance with originator underwriting guidelines, property valuation and regulatory compliance.

The Barrent Group is also included on Fitch Ratings’ list of third party review (TPR) firms, as published in December 2016.

As part of the assessment of TPR firms, rating agencies consider various factors, including the company’s track record, depth of underwriting knowledge and experience, internal audit protocol, technology and reporting capabilities.

“Meeting both the S&P and Fitch criteria provides our clients with confidence and peace of mind when engaging us for quality control reviews and mortgage loan due diligence,” Barrent said. “The Barrent Group’s many years of experience analyzing the full spectrum of residential mortgage products gives us a unique level of expertise.”
