NewDay USA Foundation Is Platinum Sponsor of Inaugural Fundraising Event

FULTON, MD – September 7, 2017 – NewDay USA today announced that it will be the platinum sponsor for the inaugural fundraising event to help build the Global War on Terror (GWOT) Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The GWOT Memorial will honor servicemen and women who have fought against terrorism in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. Legislation to create the Memorial – the first national war memorial to be built while the conflict is still going on – was passed by both the House and Senate in early August and President Trump signed the bill into law last month.

The legislation provides the proposed memorial with an exemption from the Commemorative Works Act of 1986 that requires Congress to wait 10 years after the official end of a military conflict before building a memorial in the nation’s capital. It also authorizes the Global War on Terror Memorial Foundation to raise funds to staff, plan, design and construct the project, which is expected to be built by 2024. The foundation is considering a site north of the Lincoln Memorial at the northwest end of the National Mall.

“We are incredibly proud to have the opportunity to support such a worthy project,” said Rob Posner, CEO of NewDay USA, a nationwide VA mortgage lender focused on helping active military personnel, veterans and their families achieve their financial and housing goals. “We are committed to honoring the lives of service members, veterans and our nation, and this memorial does just that.”

NewDay USA supports the other veterans’ memorials on the National Mall, and was eager to play a leading role to help build the GWOT Memorial as well, Posner said.

“This memorial will be wholly dedicated to our 7,000 brothers and sisters who deployed with us but did not return, and their survivors,” said Andrew J. Brennan, founder and executive director of the GWOT Foundation. “It is dedicated to the one million wounded warriors who are reclaiming their lives back here at home. It is for the soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines who struggle in their transition from combat deployments.”

“Serving is a defining value for us at the NewDay USA Foundation, which is why we are so proud to be able to serve as a platinum sponsor for the memorial foundation’s inaugural event,” added Regina Lowrie, president of the NewDay USA Foundation. “Giving back is at the core of what our foundation does. Helping fund this memorial represents just a small token of our immense gratitude.”

The Global War on Terror Memorial Foundation is holding its Inaugural Fundraising Dinner & Silent Auction on Tuesday, September 12, at the Potomac View Terrace at 2215 Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C.
