National down payment assistance provider recognized in Women- or Minority-Owned category

Nov. 18, 2019 – CEDAR CITY, Utah – CBC Mortgage Agency, a nationally chartered housing finance agency and a leading source of down payment assistance, has been selected as one of the 2019 Top 25 companies in mortgage and servicing.

CBC Mortgage Agency was recognized as being a leader in the Women- or Minority-Owned/Operated category. Companies were nominated by their own employees and selected based on how well they have been “blazing a path in the mortgage and housing industries.” CBC is a subsidiary of Cedar Band Corp., a federally chartered tribal corporation founded by the Cedar Band of Paiutes.

“We are very humbled to be recognized as a leading minority-owned mortgage company,” CBC Mortgage Agency President Richard Ferguson stated. “Our culture and our company’s heritage enable us to help families of all ethnicities and races nationwide achieve the American Dream.”

Compared to two decades ago, the mortgage workforce has evolved, and employers have had to evolve with it, according to MReport, which selected the winners. “Employers have to adapt to changing demographics, and technology plays a much larger role than ever before.”

CBC has adapted by enabling employees to work from home, providing a robust benefits package, as well as by offering special down payment plans for its employees.

“CBC has been excellent to work for,” one CBC employee wrote. “Management highly values company culture, and it’s clear that their mission is to help people, which makes ours very fulfilling work. They are honest and have the concerns of employees at heart. Plus, there are many opportunities for growth.”

Also factoring into CBC’s making the prestigious list was its philanthropic contributions to Habitat for Humanity and CityVision, a nonprofit agency that helps create healthy residential communities by renovating or rebuilding homes in need and offering closing cost credit to families, creating home ownership opportunities nationwide.

“The people who make CBC a success are our employees,” Ferguson added. “They work each day to make it possible for many low-income minority homebuyers—whose families lack the wealth needed to help with a down payment–achieve homeownership. I’m proud of our team.”
