December 6, 2021–Danvers, MA– Mortgage Network, Inc., one of the largest independent mortgage bankers in the eastern U.S., has recently teamed up with the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless to once again take part in the organization’s Build a Bed Initiative, which provides beds to children in need so that every child can get a good night’s rest.
Part of the coalition’s A Bed for Every Child initiative, the Build A Bed Initiative brings together teams of three to four volunteers to build, sand and paint twin bed frames over a three-hour period. Volunteers do not need any carpentry skills to participate. Afterwards, A Bed for Every Child delivers not only the frames to children who need them but new twin mattresses as well.
This year’s event marks the 3rd year Mortgage Network has participated in the initiative.
“We’ve always been passionate about helping those in need, but this is a special event for us,” said Robert McInnes, chairman and CEO of Mortgage Network. “Thousands of children throughout the state don’t have their own beds because their families cannot afford one. The need for beds is particularly high this year, as many families have been struggling due to the pandemic and rising housing costs. We encourage others in the community to get involved in this wonderful event.”
The Build A Bed Initiative has traveled to cities throughout Massachusetts and has hosted events in conference rooms, ballrooms, parking lots, gyms and community halls, as well as at its warehouse in Lynn, Massachusetts. To date, over 3,500 people have participated in making beds for children in need.
