April 28, 2020 ─ DANVERS, MA – Bruce Barilar, a loan officer with Mortgage Network, Inc., one of the largest independent mortgage lenders in the eastern U.S., has been recognized as a top originator of affordable loan programs by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA). Mortgage Network was also honored by the agency as a top ten lender of HOMEstead loans, a program that provides down payment and closing cost assistance for those who qualify.

Barilar (NMLS #131218), a loan officer at Mortgage Network’s Lancaster, Pennsylvania branch office, was ranked 15th among the state’s top loan originators working with the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency. Last year he originated more than 20 loans under the agency’s programs.

Each year, Pennsylvania Housing Finance recognizes lenders and loan officers that have had a high rate of success helping homebuyers access the agency’s home loan programs, which offer a variety of features to help make homeownership more affordable.

A Pennsylvania native, Barilar has worked in housing and the mortgage finance industry for 21 years. He joined Mortgage Network in 2014.

“It’s such a great honor to be recognized,” Barilar said. “I truly enjoy helping borrowers find affordable loans so they may realize their dreams of homeownership. Because rising prices are creating affordability challenges for many families, Pennsylvania Housing’s down payment assistance and other options are a huge help.”

We were delighted to learn about Bruce’s recognition, but I wasn’t exactly surprised,” said Kevin Downs (NMLS #141106), manager of Mortgage Network’s Lancaster branch. “While helping first-time homebuyers overcome their obstacles to buying a home is one of our core values at Mortgage Network, few loan officers are as committed to this mission as Bruce. Our entire office could not be prouder of him.”

About Pennsylvania Housing:

The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency works to provide affordable homeownership and rental housing options for older adults, low- and moderate-income families, and people with special housing needs. Through its carefully managed mortgage programs and investments in multifamily housing developments, PHFA also promotes economic development across the state. Since its creation by the legislature in 1972, it has generated nearly $14.6 billion of funding for more than 178,325 single-family home mortgage loans, helped fund the construction of 136,215 rental units, distributed more than $109.2 million to support local housing initiatives, and saved the homes of more than 50,300 families from foreclosure. PHFA programs and operations are funded primarily by the sale of securities and from fees paid by program users, not by public tax dollars. The agency is governed by a 14-member board.
